Pi Day - the real 3/14 celebration

I have to admit, I found it amusing that someone came up with this stupid steak and blowjob day. And because I got the information emailed I just used it. Lazy as I sometimes am I didn't search for other important celebrations that might occur on March 14th. Others were better informed, as usual. As fontblog.de published, yesterday was Pi Day.
I am sure everybody knows the mathematical constant π. It represents the ratio of any circle's circumference to its diameter in Euclidean geometry. It’s approximately (100 dezimals) 3.14159 26535 89793 23846 26433 83279 50288 41971 69399 37510 58209 74944 59230 78164 06286 20899 86280 34825 34211 70679, making 3/14 1:59:26 pm the Pi Second.
So why do I care about Pi? This constant has been fascinating mathematicians for ages. It started with the Egyptians, is mentioned in the Bible and was heavily researched by the old Greeks. Right now I can’t think of anything that caused so much scientific gedangenkpingpong throughout ages and cultures. One might call Pi the king of gedankenpingpong.
